Resonant Link and AFWERX Continue Partnership to Deliver Mission-Critical Wireless Charging for Unmanned Systems

The wireless power leader was awarded a SBIR Phase I contract to continue its partnership with the Department of Defense to support expeditionary power needs and autonomous operations.

South Burlington, Vermont — Resonant Link has been selected by AFWERX for a SBIR Phase I contract focused on wireless charging for autonomous systems. This work will address some of the most pressing challenges in the Department of the Air Force (DAF).

The Air Force Research Laboratory and AFWERX have partnered to streamline the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) process by accelerating the small business experience through faster proposal to award timelines, changing the pool of potential applicants by expanding opportunities to small business and eliminating bureaucratic overhead by continually implementing process improvement changes in contract execution.

“We are honored to partner with AFWERX to deliver mission-critical charging for unmanned systems,” said Phyo Aung Kyaw, PhD, CSO and co-founder of Resonant Link, adding “We appreciate the DAF’s investment in technology transition to operational capability.”

“Power needs are increasing in every area of our lives, but energy and recharging capabilities haven’t kept up,” said Grayson Zulauf, PhD, CEO and co-founder of Resonant Link. “With the continued support from AFWERX, we will further evolve our wireless charging to support expeditionary power needs, like keeping devices and vehicles powered without any involvement from the warfighter.”

The DAF began offering the Open Topic SBIR/STTR program in 2018, which expanded the range of innovations the DAF funded and now, Resonant Link will continue its journey to create and provide innovative capabilities that will strengthen the national defense of the United States of America.
